From hobby to career
Computer repair started for Nick the way it starts for a lot of people who end up good at it: curiosity, and a machine that would not behave. Taking things apart to find out why they stopped working turned into fixing them, then into fixing them for friends and family, and eventually into the job.
Years of that hands-on work builds a particular kind of instinct — knowing which symptoms point at a failing drive, which point at heat, and which are software pretending to be hardware.
